Good to see members are willing to challenge the decision and demand to see the business case for this ill thought out political pet project. With the exit of the chief architects Robbo, Merideth and Julie Gill, I wonder if it might quietly be dropped – if the consultants £1million fee were reinvested in staff, I’m sure they could make the improvements planned.

Like many members, I feel very strongly that we should explore all avenues to stop this nonsense – and I do believe that we have a lot of things on our side. Putting aside for a moment the very true an persuasive arguments that we have put forward (which I don’t think our “leaders” on the Council listen to anyway), we should be persuading the politicians on the Labour side at least that they ignore us at their peril. THERE IS NO DEMOCRATIC MANDATE ON THE COUNCIL FOR THE PRIVATISATION OF PUBLIC SERVICES! Labour politicians should be told in no uncertain terms that unless they remove their muzzles and fight on the people’s side against the establishment and its Government appointed minions we will disaffiliate from the Labour Party! This is not to say that we don’t respect and admire the role of some Trade Union activists within the Labour Party, but I’m sure that the vast majority of Members would applaud this tactic. The people have already achieved a major victory in throwing out the elected mayor, and such a tactic would go a long way to reassert democracy and further the interests of public service.
