About Me
I have worked in Local Authority Social Care since October 1976 and have, since that time, been involved with all Service User groups in both a residential and fieldwork setting. I have been a member of a trade union since my third day of working, originally joining NALGO, and have been an activist since 1984, when I became a Steward and Health & Safety Rep.
After the formation of Unison in 1996 and the change over to Unitary Status in 1997, numerous local Unison branches had to amalgamate. I sat on the “shadow” branch which formulated the new City of Stoke-on-Trent Unison Branch.
I am also a member of the Consultation Strategy Group, Corporate Consultation and the branch negotiating team involved in discussions with the employers about the budget, job evaluation and Single Status.
I also represent the branch at Regional level, being a member of the West Midlands Social Care Forum and have represented the branch at National Delegate Conference and National Local Government Conferences.
